Financial Accountant in Huddersfield

We’re working with a successful and growing manufacturing business based in Huddersfield that is looking to appoint an experienced Financial Accountant to join its established finance team.

This is an important role within the business, supporting the day-to-day finance function and taking responsibility for accurate financial reporting, month-end processes, reconciliations and financial controls.
Working closely with the Finance Manager and wider management team, the Financial Accountant will provide accurate financial information to support business performance, with a particular focus on costs, stock, margins and the manufacturing operation.
Key responsibilities will include:
  • Preparing monthly management accounts and financial reports
  • Supporting month-end and year-end close processes
  • Completing balance sheet reconciliations and investigating variances
  • Monitoring stock, production costs and margins
  • Supporting product costing and analysis of manufacturing costs
  • Analysing financial performance and providing variance commentary
  • Supporting budgeting, forecasting and cash flow reporting
  • Preparing VAT returns and supporting statutory accounts
  • Maintaining strong financial controls across the business
  • Supporting external audit and year-end processes
  • Identifying opportunities to improve finance processes, reporting and controls
  • Working closely with operational and senior management teams
  • Providing ad-hoc financial analysis and support as required
The client is looking for:
  • ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualified
  • Previous experience in a Financial Accountant, Management Accountant or similar role
  • Strong technical accounting and month-end experience
  • Experience within a manufacturing environment would be highly advantageous
  • Good understanding of stock, costing, margins and financial controls
  • Strong Excel skills and experience using finance/accounting systems
  • Excellent attention to detail and analytical skills
  • Good communication skills with the ability to work across finance and operational teams
  • A proactive approach and ability to manage competing priorities
