Location: Hull
Salary: £37,503.45 per annum
Hours: 4 on / 4 off - 12-hour shifts
Shift Pattern: 2 days, 2 nights, 4 days off
Average Hours: 42 hours per week

We are recruiting for an experienced Finishing Plant Operator to join the production team at a specialist manufacturing facility in Hull.

This is a hands-on role working directly with critical plant and heavy industrial machinery. The environment is physically demanding, with exposure to dust, noise, heavy materials and industrial processes, so this position will suit someone who is comfortable working in a challenging manufacturing environment and isn't afraid of getting stuck in.

Full training will be provided on the specific plant and processes, making this an excellent opportunity for someone with previous experience in manufacturing, processing, heavy industry or machinery operation.



The Role

  • Operating rotary kilns, coolers, screens, blenders and associated plant equipment.
  • Preparing and feeding raw materials into the production process.
  • Monitoring plant performance, processes and equipment operation.
  • Operating blending equipment and ensuring batch specifications are maintained.
  • Carrying out routine inspections and identifying equipment defects or abnormalities.
  • Recording production data, process parameters, meter readings and batch information.
  • Preparing finished products for packaging and checking labels and batch information.
  • Monitoring dust extraction and LEV systems.
  • Maintaining high standards of housekeeping across the plant.
  • Identifying and reporting equipment faults, safety concerns and production issues.
  • Working closely with Production, Maintenance, Quality and Logistics teams.
  • Supporting continuous improvement initiatives across the site.


About You

We are looking for someone with previous experience in a manufacturing, processing or industrial environment, ideally with experience operating machinery or overseeing production processes.

You will need to be:

  • Comfortable working in a heavy, dusty and physically demanding industrial environment.
  • Confident operating machinery and following established procedures.
  • Safety-conscious and able to work responsibly around heavy industrial plant.
  • Able to identify machinery or process abnormalities and report them promptly.
  • Comfortable working a rotating days and nights shift pattern.
  • Reliable, practical and willing to get hands-on.
  • A strong team player with good attention to detail.
  • Physically capable of working in a demanding production environment.


Desirable Experience

The following would be advantageous but are not essential, as full training will be provided:

  • Rotary kiln operation.
  • Blending or mixing equipment.
  • Bulk material handling, conveyors or elevator systems.
  • Counterbalance FLT or other mobile plant experience.
  • LEV and dust extraction systems.
  • Basic mechanical fault-finding.
  • IOSH Working Safely or equivalent.
  • FLT, MEWP, First Aid or Manual Handling qualifications.
