A client of mine is currently looking to recruit an experienced Fire Safety Surveyor to join their team in Central London on a rolling 3-month contract. This is an excellent opportunity to play a key role in ensuring fire safety compliance across a varied property portfolio while working within a highly professional building safety team.
The Role
As a Fire Safety Surveyor, you will be responsible for carrying out and reviewing Fire Risk Assessments (FRAs), identifying fire safety risks, providing expert technical advice, and supporting the delivery of statutory fire safety compliance across residential and mixed-use buildings.
Working closely with internal teams, contractors and stakeholders, you will help ensure properties remain compliant with current legislation while contributing to ongoing fire safety improvement programmes.
Key Responsibilities
·Undertake Fire Risk Assessments (FRAs) in line with current legislation and recognised industry standards.
·Review existing Fire Risk Assessments to ensure they are accurate, suitable and compliant.
·Identify fire safety deficiencies and provide practical recommendations for remedial works.
·Carry out fire safety inspections and audits across residential, commercial and mixed-use properties.
·Monitor fire safety remedial works and verify successful completion.
·Produce clear, accurate and evidence-based fire safety reports.
·Provide technical fire safety advice to colleagues, contractors and stakeholders.
·Maintain accurate compliance records and inspection documentation.
·Support regulatory inspections and contribute to continuous improvement within the fire safety programme.
About You
To be successful in this role you will have:
·A recognised Fire Risk Assessment qualification (Level 3, Level 4 or equivalent).
·Proven experience carrying out Fire Risk Assessments across residential, commercial or public sector buildings.
·Strong knowledge of the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005, Fire Safety Act 2021 and Building Safety Act 2022.
·Experience producing detailed Fire Risk Assessment reports and prioritising remedial actions.
·Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
·The ability to interpret legislation and provide practical, risk-based fire safety advice.
Desirable Experience
·Membership of the Institution of Fire Engineers (IFE), Institute of Fire Safety Managers (IFSM) or a similar professional body.
·Experience within Local Authority, Housing Association or wider public sector environments.
·Knowledge of passive fire protection and compartmentation surveys.
·Experience managing fire safety remedial programmes.
·Familiarity with CAFM or compliance management systems.
