Production Operative

Location: Kent
Salary: Approximately £33,150 per annum
Hours: Monday to Friday, 7:00am - 5:00pm

About the Role

An established and growing food manufacturing business is seeking a Production Operative to join its production team. This is a varied, hands-on role offering full training and the opportunity to gain experience across multiple areas of a food production operation.

The successful candidate will support daily manufacturing and warehouse activities, including ingredient preparation, production processes, packing, labelling, and order fulfilment. The role requires a strong attention to detail, commitment to quality standards, and the ability to work effectively within a team environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work collaboratively with the production team to ensure products meet quality and customer specifications.
  • Support production targets and customer delivery deadlines.
  • Operate machinery safely and in accordance with procedures.
  • Weigh and mix ingredients accurately to prescribed recipes.
  • Assist with filling, sealing, and labelling products.
  • Maintain high standards of hygiene and housekeeping throughout the production environment.
  • Pick, pack, label, and palletise customer orders ready for dispatch.
  • Complete production and quality documentation accurately and on time.
  • Follow established quality management and food safety procedures.
  • Monitor and record critical control points where required.
  • Wear and maintain appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Provide support across departments to ensure smooth operational performance.
  • Assist in the training and onboarding of new team members when required.

Skills & Experience

  • Previous experience in a manufacturing, production, warehouse, or food production environment is desirable but not essential, as full training will be provided.
  • Understanding of health, safety, quality, and food hygiene standards would be advantageous.
  • Ability to work within a fast-paced production environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Team-oriented approach with strong interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Well-organised with a proactive attitude to work.
