Production Operative
Location: Kent
Salary: Approximately £33,150 per annum
Hours: Monday to Friday, 7:00am - 5:00pm
About the Role
An established and growing food manufacturing business is seeking a Production Operative to join its production team. This is a varied, hands-on role offering full training and the opportunity to gain experience across multiple areas of a food production operation.
The successful candidate will support daily manufacturing and warehouse activities, including ingredient preparation, production processes, packing, labelling, and order fulfilment. The role requires a strong attention to detail, commitment to quality standards, and the ability to work effectively within a team environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Work collaboratively with the production team to ensure products meet quality and customer specifications.
- Support production targets and customer delivery deadlines.
- Operate machinery safely and in accordance with procedures.
- Weigh and mix ingredients accurately to prescribed recipes.
- Assist with filling, sealing, and labelling products.
- Maintain high standards of hygiene and housekeeping throughout the production environment.
- Pick, pack, label, and palletise customer orders ready for dispatch.
- Complete production and quality documentation accurately and on time.
- Follow established quality management and food safety procedures.
- Monitor and record critical control points where required.
- Wear and maintain appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Provide support across departments to ensure smooth operational performance.
- Assist in the training and onboarding of new team members when required.
Skills & Experience
- Previous experience in a manufacturing, production, warehouse, or food production environment is desirable but not essential, as full training will be provided.
- Understanding of health, safety, quality, and food hygiene standards would be advantageous.
- Ability to work within a fast-paced production environment.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Team-oriented approach with strong interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
- Well-organised with a proactive attitude to work.
