Salary: £40,000–£42,000 basic salary, with OTE up to £52,500, plus company van and fuel card.
About the Role
An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Domestic Gas Service & Breakdown Engineer to join a growing social housing maintenance team across Cornwall. This role is ideal for a qualified engineer with strong fault-finding skills who is passionate about delivering a high standard of service while ensuring the safety and reliability of domestic gas installations.
Key Responsibilities
Carry out servicing and maintenance of domestic gas appliances and heating systems in accordance with current regulations.
Attend breakdowns, diagnose faults, and complete effective repairs.
Ensure all gas installations are safe, compliant, and operating efficiently.
Complete accurate service reports and maintain records of work carried out, including parts used.
Deliver excellent customer service and communicate professionally with residents.
Order required parts and manage jobs through to completion.
Use PDA technology to update job status, record work completed, and book parts.
Keep residents and clients informed of appointment times and progress.
Ensure all PPE, tools, and testing equipment are maintained, calibrated, and fit for purpose.
Attend team meetings and briefings while contributing to business objectives.
Remain up to date with Gas Safe legislation, industry standards, and best practice.
Participate in the out-of-hours call-out rota.

Essential Qualifications
- Gas Safe registered.
- CCN1, CPA1, CENWAT, CKR1 and HTR1 certifications.
- City & Guilds Energy Efficiency qualification.
- NVQ Level 2 (or equivalent) in a relevant discipline.
- Full UK driving licence.
- DBS clearance.
Experience & Skills
Proven experience carrying out domestic gas servicing, maintenance, and breakdown repairs.
Previous experience working within social housing or housing associations.
Strong diagnostic and fault-finding abilities.
Confident using mobile PDA technology.
Excellent communication and customer service skills.
Professional, reliable, flexible, and able to work independently.
