Carmichael UK is recruiting for an experienced Foreman to join one of 2 major infrastructure projects, HS2 or Sizewell C. This is an excellent opportunity to work on one of the UK's largest civil engineering and earthworks schemes, leading the safe and efficient delivery of large-scale earthmoving operations.
As Foreman, you will play a key role in the day-to-day management of site activities, ensuring works are delivered safely, on programme, and to the highest quality standards. You will provide hands-on leadership to site teams, coordinate plant and resources, and work closely with engineering and management staff to achieve project objectives.
Key Responsibilities- Lead site teams to ensure work is carried out safely, efficiently, and in accordance with company procedures.
- Conduct regular site inspections and promote a strong health, safety, and environmental culture.
- Coordinate daily activities with Supervisors, Engineers, and Project Management teams.
- Drive productivity across earthworks operations while maintaining quality standards.
- Plan and deliver works in line with project programmes and operational requirements.
- Ensure compliance with Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs), hold points, and quality procedures.
- Manage site resources, materials, and plant requirements.
- Monitor plant inspections and ensure defects are reported and rectified promptly.
- Complete and maintain accurate daily records and allocation sheets.
- Liaise professionally with client representatives and stakeholders.
- Ensure compliance with permits, site procedures, SOPs, and project-specific requirements.
- Proven experience as a Foreman within civil engineering, infrastructure, or large-scale earthworks projects.
- Strong commitment to health, safety, and environmental compliance.
- Experience managing multiple work fronts and coordinating site teams.
- Good understanding of bulk earthworks operations and production requirements.
- Knowledge of the Specification for Highway Works and quality control processes.
- Experience using GPS machine guidance systems.
- Ability to interpret and deliver works against short and medium-term programmes.
- Strong leadership, organisational, and communication skills.
- Confident working with clients, subcontractors, and project stakeholders.
- Ability to drive performance, productivity, and quality across site operations.
