Job Title: General Foreman
Location: Peterhead (AB42)
Contract Dates: ASAP - 18/12/2026, could be extended further
Pay rate: £23 per hour (umbrella inside IR35)
Working hours: 7-7 Mon to Fri, 7-1 Sat
Role Overview
In this pivotal role, you will be the driving force on the ground, providing expert supervision of the works and maintaining tight control over a diverse team comprising foremen, gangers, and direct labour, alongside overseeing subcontractor operations.
Key Responsibilities
Embody a relentless focus on a zero-incident culture. You will input into Work Package Plans and Risk Assessments, deliver engaging toolbox talks, conduct Safety & Environment Tours, and ensure all plant and tools are maintained and safe for use.
Champion a 'Right First Time' culture across the supply chain. You'll carry out independent inspections, monitor site workmanship, manage weekly programmes against KPIs, and ensure the correct level of resource is allocated to every task.
Identify future requirements for setting out, assess material wastage to implement savings, validate labour and plant records, and maintain a sharp awareness of the project scope to identify any areas of project creep or additional work.
The ideal candidate will have:
A valid CSCS Card and a current driving license.
Proven experience managing the works of direct labour and subcontractors.
Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to clearly articulate safe systems of work and ensure they are followed accurately.
A strong work ethic with the flexibility to work unsociable hours/nights as the project demands.
A solid understanding of current H&S legislation, construction tolerances, and accident investigation protocols.
Experience in monitoring key programme dates (e.g., traffic management switches, concrete pour dates) and scheduling material quantities accurately.
Previous experience delivering high-profile projects involving earthworks, deep drainage, and reinforced concrete construction.
