Are you an experienced General Manager from a sawmilling, timber, forestry or building materials background looking for a hands-on role where you can take ownership of operations and help drive business growth?

This established specialist sawmill processes and supplies high-quality hardwood and softwood timbers from UK woodlands. With the business continuing to grow, they are looking for a General Manager to oversee operations and work closely with the Directors to shape the future development of the company.

This is a varied, autonomous role overseeing operations, Health & Safety, purchasing, sales and site development, whilst working closely with a leadership team. You will also develop supplier and customer relationships, influence business strategy and make a genuine impact on the future direction of the business.

This role would suit an experienced General Manager or Operations Manager from a sawmilling, forestry or building materials background looking for a varied, hands-on position with significant autonomy and the opportunity to influence business growth.

The Role:

• Oversee all day-to-day operations across the sawmill
• Oversee buildings, machinery, equipment and site maintenance
• Work across sawmilling, purchasing, sales, marketing and order fulfilment
• Work closely with Directors on expenditure, equipment investment and business priorities
• Monitor cashflow, pricing and overall business performance
• Travel regularly, including occasional overnight stays and potential overseas supplier visits

The Person:

• Proven experience successfully running a business, department or operation
• Background in sawmilling, forestry, timber, builders' merchant or building materials
• Full UK driving licence
