Vacancy Introduction
As a Civils General Operative, you will play a key role in supporting the successful delivery of civils and drainage projects. Working alongside Team Leaders and operational crews, you will assist with excavation activities, utility location and avoidance, site preparation, plant and equipment operation (where authorised), reinstatement works, and general construction duties. You will help maintain safe, organised, and compliant work sites while ensuring all tasks are completed efficiently, safely, and to a high standard. This is an important position that contributes to the smooth running of operations and the successful completion of projects for our customers.
Cappagh Browne Utilities Ltd is a special purpose joint venture established to deliver wastewater network maintenance and repair services for Southern Water across the South of England. We focus on keeping sewer networks operating efficiently through planned maintenance, emergency response and rehabilitation works. Our capability is underpinned by a substantial fleet of specialist vehicles including vacuum tankers, jetting units and CCTV survey equipment, supported by advanced technology for rapid diagnostics and effective solutions. With a reputation for safety, reliability and technical expertise, Cappagh Browne plays a critical role in protecting communities and maintaining essential infrastructure.
What We're Looking For
- Experience within civils, utilities, groundwork, construction, or a similar environment.
- Ability to use hand tools, power tools, and construction equipment safely and effectively.
- Strong awareness of health and safety requirements and safe working practices.
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work productively as part of a team.
- Good communication skills and a positive, professional attitude.
- Willingness to learn, follow instructions, and take initiative when required.
- NRSWA Street Works qualification (essential).
- Full UK Driving Licence and CAT & Genny qualification (desirable).
