About the Role

Tradewind Recruitment is delighted to be recruiting on behalf of a well-regarded secondary school in Durham, seeking a talented and enthusiastic Geography Teacher to join their successful Humanities department from September 2026 until April 2027.

This full-time position offers an excellent opportunity to work within a supportive and ambitious school environment, delivering high-quality Geography lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4. The successful candidate will inspire students to develop a deeper understanding of the world around them, exploring both physical and human geography while encouraging curiosity, critical thinking, and global awareness.

The school is committed to providing a positive learning environment where both students and staff can thrive. Applications are welcomed from experienced teachers and Early Career Teachers (ECTs) who are passionate about delivering engaging and effective Geography lessons.



Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver engaging Geography lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4
  • Assess, monitor, and support student progress
  • Create a positive, inclusive, and productive learning environment
  • Maintain high expectations for behaviour and achievement
  • Differentiate learning to meet the needs of all students
  • Prepare students for internal assessments and GCSE examinations
  • Contribute positively to the wider school community
  • Promote geographical enquiry, fieldwork skills, and environmental awareness

Requirements

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent
  • Experience teaching Geography within a UK secondary school
  • Strong classroom and behaviour management skills
  • Excellent subject knowledge and a passion for Geography
  • The ability to engage and motivate learners of varying abilities
  • Two professional references covering the last two years
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
  • A proactive, reliable, and adaptable approach to teaching
