As the business continues to expand its European footprint, they're now looking for an experienced German Accountant to take ownership of financial operations across the group.
This is a pivotal, highly visible role. You'll be the key local point of contact between the German entities, the UK finance team, the Luxembourg holding companies, and external advisers combining hands-on bookkeeping and compliance work with real influence over how the finance function operates locally.
The Role
You will manage the full financial operation for the German PropCo group, including:

- Processing accounts payable and receivable, and ensuring timely, accurate transaction recording across all German entities
- Reviewing payroll processed by an external provider, checking outputs prior to sign-off
- Ensuring correct posting of intercompany recharges and management costs between German entities
- Supporting local reporting requirements for the Luxembourg holding companies, liaising with Luxembourg advisers as needed
- Preparing and filing VAT returns for all German entities, including correct VAT treatment on cross-border and intercompany transactions
- Collaborating with property managers, legal teams, and external auditors on statutory audits
- Providing monthly trial balances and nominal ledger extracts to the UK finance team
- Supporting twice-yearly budgeting, board pack, and forecasting cycles
- Flagging HGB-to-FRS 102 treatment differences relevant to UK group consolidation (e.g. lease accounting, provisions, deferred tax)
- Maintaining proactive, clear communication with the UK finance team flagging issues as they arise rather than at month-end
- A degree in Accounting or Finance, or equivalent professional experience
- Solid experience in German bookkeeping, VAT, payroll oversight, and financial reporting ideally within commercial real estate or a multi-entity group structure
- Strong working knowledge of HGB and German VAT regulations
- Fluency in German, with working proficiency in English (written and spoken) this role sits between local operations and a UK-based head office
- Experience working with UK or other international parent companies is a strong advantage
- Proficiency in DATEV and/or Sage Intacct, or equivalent German accounting software
- Comfortable working with Excel-based reporting templates
- Strong attention to detail, analytical skills, and the ability to manage multiple entities to deadline
