The Graduate Assistant Engineer role:

As a Graduate Assistant Engineer, you will gain hands-on experience working on specialist electrical engineering compliance projects across a range of UK industries.  This role is predominantly site-based, offering valuable practical experience in a variety of industrial environments across the UK.  You will receive structured training, mentoring from experienced engineers, and exposure to niche technical disciplines including hazardous area inspections and DSEAR (Dangerous Substances and Explosive Atmospheres Regulations) compliance.

Key responsibilities of the Graduate Assistant Engineer:

  • Assist with hazardous area inspections and compliance assessments in accordance with DSEAR requirements.
  • Support electrical site surveys and inspections to BS 7671.
  • Gather, analyse and maintain compliance project data.
  • Assist in preparing technical reports and compliance documentation.
  • Support client meetings, telephone calls and technical discussions.
  • Work at client sites across the UK; occasional overseas travel may arise as part of project work.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to deliver high-quality services.

Skills and experience required by the Graduate Assistant Engineer:

  • Bachelor’s degree (or expected degree completion) in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Industrial placement or practical engineering experience is advantageous but not essential.
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
  • Willingness to travel throughout the UK and work away from home when required.
  • A full UK driving licence is required due to the travel requirements of the role.
  • Comfortable working in industrial environments, including manufacturing facilities and process plants.
