Location: Bath
Salary: £33,000-£36,000 DOE
Contract: Permanent, Full-Time
Hours: Days Monday to Friday

We are recruiting for a Grinding Operative to join an established precision engineering business. This is a hands-on manufacturing role working with high-precision components where accuracy, quality and attention to detail are essential.

The Role

As a Grinding Operative, you will be responsible for producing and finishing precision-engineered components to drawing and specification. You will operate grinding equipment to achieve tight tolerances and high-quality finishes, carrying out inspections throughout the manufacturing process.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Operating grinding machinery to manufacture precision components
  • Setting and adjusting machinery as required
  • Working from engineering drawings and technical specifications
  • Checking components using precision measuring equipment
  • Working accurately to tight dimensional tolerances
  • Carrying out in-process and final inspection
  • Identifying and reporting any quality issues
  • Maintaining a clean, safe and organised working area
  • Following company quality and health & safety procedures

About You

We are looking for someone with experience in a precision engineering or machining environment. Previous grinding experience would be advantageous, but candidates with a strong background in CNC milling or CNC turning may also be considered, particularly where they have experience working to tight tolerances and engineering drawings.

You may have experience as a Grinding Operative, Grinder, CNC Grinder, CNC Machinist, CNC Miller, CNC Turner, Precision Machinist, Machine Operator or similar.

The successful candidate will have:

  • Previous experience in precision engineering, machining or grinding
  • CNC milling or turning experience will also be considered
  • The ability to read and understand engineering drawings
  • Experience using micrometers, verniers and other precision measuring equipment
  • Good attention to detail and a quality-focused approach
  • The ability to work accurately to tight tolerances
  • A reliable and practical approach to manufacturing
