An excellent opportunity to join a leading UK infrastructure and logistics organisation, supporting the delivery and future development of its Group HSE strategy across a diverse portfolio of operational sites. 

Working closely with the Group HSE Director, the successful candidate will operate as a strategic deputy, leading Group-wide projects, policy development, assurance activities and cultural improvement initiatives. 

With significant growth, investment and expansion plans ahead, this role offers the chance to influence long-term HSE performance and play a key role in shaping the organisation's next strategic journey towards zero harm.

 

The Group Head of HSE will be responsible for:

 

  • Supporting the delivery of the Group HSE strategy while playing a leading role in the development of the next strategic roadmap, helping to drive continual improvement and progress towards a zero-harm culture.
  • Leading Group-wide HSE projects, developing policies, procedures and guidance, and ensuring compliance with relevant legal and regulatory requirements across a complex, high-hazard operational environment.
  • Conducting technical assurance activities, leading serious incident investigations and panels of enquiry, and identifying opportunities to strengthen performance, reduce risk and improve operational standards.
  • Acting as a trusted deputy to the Group EHS Director, engaging with senior stakeholders across the business, attending Board-level meetings and providing strategic HSE leadership across ports, logistics and associated operations.

 

The Group Head of HSE will have:

 

  • Extensive HSE leadership experience within a high-risk operational environment such as ports, logistics, infrastructure, construction, manufacturing, aviation or other heavy industrial sectors.
  • A proven track record of influencing stakeholders at all levels, leading cultural change programmes and delivering measurable improvements in HSE performance.
  • Experience working with senior leadership teams and Boards, with the ability to translate business objectives into practical HSE strategies and deliverables.
  • Strong technical HSE expertise, including policy development, assurance, auditing, incident investigation and the leadership of complex business-wide improvement initiatives.
