Head of Engineering | Commercial Solar & BESS

Location: Predominantly Remote with Occasional Office & Site Visits

Salary: £65,000 - £75,000 + Bonus

ASA Recruitment are working with a growing organisation within the commercial renewable energy sector to recruit an experienced Head of Engineering.

This is an opportunity to join a business delivering commercial Solar PV and Battery Energy Storage (BESS) projects across the UK. The role is ideal for someone who enjoys shaping engineering strategy, improving technical standards and leading engineering excellence, rather than simply managing day-to-day design activities.

You'll play a key role in developing the engineering function, supporting project delivery and ensuring technical quality across a diverse portfolio of renewable energy projects.

The Role

• Lead the engineering function across commercial Solar PV and BESS projects.
• Provide technical leadership and act as the senior engineering authority.
• Develop and improve engineering standards, processes and quality assurance procedures.
• Oversee design reviews, technical sign-off and engineering governance.
• Support project delivery teams with technical guidance and risk management.
• Contribute to tender submissions and technical proposals.
• Mentor and develop engineers across the business.
• Drive continuous improvement throughout the engineering department.

What We're Looking For

• Degree or equivalent qualification in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
• Previous experience in a senior engineering leadership position.
• Strong technical knowledge of commercial Solar PV, BESS or wider electrical infrastructure projects.
• Experience improving engineering processes, standards and technical governance.
• Comfortable leading multidisciplinary engineering teams.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• A proactive mindset with a passion for developing engineering excellence.
