  • An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and strategic finance leader to join a large and progressive NHS organisation as Head of Financial Planning and Corporate Reporting.
  • This senior role is central to the organisation’s financial management, leading the development of robust financial plans, overseeing corporate reporting, and ensuring the delivery of accurate, timely, and insightful financial information. You will play a key role in supporting executive decision-making, driving financial sustainability, and ensuring compliance with national guidance and regulatory requirements.
  • Working closely with senior leaders across finance, operational, and clinical teams, you will contribute to achieving the organisation’s strategic objectives and improving patient outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the development of the organisation’s annual financial plan, long-term financial strategy, and forecasting processes
  • Oversee all corporate financial reporting, including board reports, statutory returns, and external submissions
  • Ensure the delivery of high-quality, accurate, and timely financial information and analysis
  • Provide expert advice to senior stakeholders on financial performance, risks, and opportunities
  • Lead the production of monthly and annual accounts, ensuring compliance with NHS and regulatory standards
  • Develop and maintain strong financial governance, controls, and reporting frameworks
  • Support the delivery of efficiency programmes and Cost Improvement Plans (CIPs)
  • Build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including system partners
  • Lead, develop, and motivate a high-performing financial planning and reporting team

About You

We are seeking an experienced and motivated finance professional with:

  • Significant senior-level experience in NHS financial planning, reporting, or corporate finance roles
  • A strong understanding of NHS finance regimes, regulatory requirements, and reporting standards
  • A recognised professional accountancy qualification (e.g. CCAB)
  • Proven experience in financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and performance management
  • Strong leadership and team management skills
  • Excellent analytical abilities, with the capacity to interpret complex financial data
  • Strong communication and influencing skills, with experience of working at Board or senior level
  • Ability to work effectively in a complex and fast-paced environment
