Role Summary:
BRC are currently recruiting for a Head of Supported Housing to lead the operational delivery and development of a growing Housing and Support service across the North West.
This is a senior leadership opportunity for an experienced housing and homelessness professional who can combine strategic thinking with strong operational management.
You will have responsibility for service performance, quality, safeguarding, financial management and stakeholder relationships, while leading the continued growth and improvement of supported housing services.
The role will play a key part in developing innovative, trauma-informed services for people experiencing homelessness and multiple disadvantage, while building strong relationships with commissioners, local authorities and partner organisations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the operational effectiveness and continuous improvement of the Housing and Support department.
- Oversee the mobilisation, development and growth of Supported Exempt Accommodation services.
- Lead on safeguarding frameworks, processes and compliance.
- Manage and develop remote teams across the region, creating a strong and high-performing culture.
- Build and maintain effective relationships with local authority commissioners, partners and other key stakeholders.
- Support the development and delivery of homelessness prevention pathways and strategic objectives.
- Manage departmental budgets, performance and financial targets.
- Oversee support planning, risk management, service quality and contractual performance.
- Develop effective resident feedback, complaints and lived experience processes.
- Ensure the voice of people with lived experience is embedded into service design and performance improvement.
- Develop partnerships with employers, community organisations and charitable organisations to create opportunities for residents.
- Identify opportunities for service growth and continuous improvement.
- Lead, motivate and develop a high-performing Housing and Support team.
- Monitor legislative, regulatory and sector developments and ensure services remain compliant.
We are looking for someone who:
- Has substantial management experience within supported housing, housing or homelessness services.
- Has significant experience working with people experiencing homelessness and multiple disadvantage.
- Has strong knowledge of housing legislation, regulation and good practice.
- Has experience managing operational risk across complex or geographically dispersed services.
- Has substantial experience of Supported Exempt Accommodation and Housing Benefit-based services.
- Has a proven track record of delivering transformational change, service growth and continuous improvement.
- Can think strategically while remaining confident managing complex operational issues.
- Has experience developing strong relationships with commissioners, local authorities and external partners.
- Has strong knowledge of safeguarding and experience contributing to safeguarding processes and statutory meetings.
- Has experience managing budgets, performance and contractual requirements.
- Is confident leading, coaching and developing high-performing teams.
- Has experience using data and performance information to drive service improvements.
- Understands and values trauma-informed and strengths-based approaches.
- Has excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the confidence to have difficult conversations when required.
- Is solution-focused, resilient and able to work effectively in a fast-paced and pressured environment.
- Is committed to equality, inclusion and ensuring the voices of people with lived experience are heard.
