Contek Recruitment Solutions are representing an established manufacturing business based in Gainsborough, who are looking to recruit an experienced Health and Safety Advisor or Health, Safety and Environmental Manager to support and continually improve health, safety and environmental standards across their site.
This is an important role for someone who can combine strong technical knowledge with a practical, hands-on approach to workplace safety, environmental compliance and continuous improvement.
Working as part of a close-knit team of three, you will collaborate with colleagues across the business, providing professional guidance and support to managers and employees at all levels. You will play a key role in maintaining compliance, developing effective management systems and promoting a proactive culture where health, safety and environmental responsibility are embedded into everyday operations.
The successful candidate will be confident delivering training, conducting investigations, reviewing procedures and engaging with employees to drive meaningful improvements.
Key Responsibilities
Health, Safety & Environmental Management
Maintain and develop health, safety and environmental management systems, documentation and procedures.
Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, company policies and applicable ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 standards.
Carry out risk assessments, review safe systems of work and ensure appropriate control measures are implemented.
Investigate accidents, incidents and near misses, identifying root causes and ensuring corrective actions are completed.
Support internal audits, workplace inspections and compliance reviews.
Monitor and report on health, safety and environmental performance, identifying opportunities for improvement.
Training & Employee Engagement
Deliver health and safety training, including employee inductions and refresher training.
Provide practical advice and guidance to managers, supervisors and employees.
Promote behavioural safety, employee wellbeing and a proactive approach to risk management.
Encourage employee involvement in health and safety initiatives and continuous improvement.
Work collaboratively with colleagues across Engineering, Facilities, HR and other departments.
Compliance & Continuous Improvement
Ensure site activities comply with current health, safety and environmental legislation.
Support the development and delivery of the annual Health and Safety Plan.
Contribute to environmental and sustainability objectives, monitoring performance against agreed targets.
Maintain accurate records, documentation and compliance reports.
Identify opportunities to improve working practices, reduce risks and strengthen environmental performance.
About You
To be considered for this position, you will have:
A NEBOSH Certificate or equivalent recognised health and safety qualification.
Experience in a Health and Safety, SHE or HSE role, ideally within a manufacturing environment.
A strong understanding of health and safety legislation and management systems.
Knowledge of risk assessments, incident investigations, workplace audits and safe systems of work.
Experience delivering training and communicating effectively with employees at all levels.
Strong organisational skills, attention to detail and the ability to manage a varied workload.
Good IT skills, particularly Microsoft Excel.
A proactive, approachable and practical attitude, with the confidence to influence others and drive improvements.
An environmental qualification or previous experience working with ISO 14001 would be advantageous, although further training may be available for the right candidate.
Salary & Benefits
Salary of £41,000–£43,000 per annum.
25 days' annual leave, increasing with service to a maximum of 28 days.
