Health & Safety Manager

Location: Alloa, with travel across the Central Belt of Scotland
Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience
Employment: Full-time

About the Company:

We are a large, established and growing multi-sector construction company, delivering a diverse portfolio of projects across the Central Belt of Scotland.

From major construction and infrastructure projects through to commercial, industrial and specialist developments, our teams operate across a broad range of sectors and environments. With a strong reputation for quality, professionalism and delivery, we are committed to maintaining the highest standards of health, safety and wellbeing across everything we do.

We are now looking to appoint an experienced Health & Safety Manager to join our team, based from our Alloa office and supporting projects across Central Scotland.

The Role-

As Health & Safety Manager, you will take a lead role in driving our health and safety culture across multiple live construction projects.

Working closely with operational teams, project managers, site managers, subcontractors and senior leadership, you will provide practical advice, challenge where required and ensure that health and safety remains at the heart of project delivery.

This is a varied, hands-on role that will suit someone who is confident operating at both site and senior management level and who can build strong relationships while maintaining professional independence.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide expert health and safety advice across a diverse portfolio of construction projects.
  • Undertake regular site inspections, audits and compliance reviews.
  • Support project and site teams in the development and implementation of construction phase plans, RAMS and associated documentation.
  • Monitor compliance with relevant health and safety legislation, regulations, company policies and industry best practice.
  • Identify risks and provide practical, proportionate solutions to improve site safety.
  • Investigate accidents, incidents and near misses, ensuring appropriate corrective and preventative actions are implemented.
  • Assist with the development and continuous improvement of the company's health and safety management systems.
  • Deliver toolbox talks, briefings, training and health and safety awareness initiatives.
  • Work closely with subcontractors and supply chain partners to ensure appropriate standards are maintained.
  • Produce reports, recommendations and performance information for senior management.
  • Support project teams with pre-construction planning and risk management.
  • Promote a positive, proactive safety culture rather than simply focusing on compliance.
  • Keep up to date with changes in legislation, guidance and industry best practice.
  • Provide support and guidance on occupational health, environmental and wellbeing matters where appropriate.

About You-

We are looking for an experienced construction health and safety professional who is comfortable working across a busy, multi-project environment.

You will ideally have:

  • Proven experience in a Health & Safety Manager, Senior Health & Safety Advisor or similar role within the construction industry.
  • Strong knowledge of UK construction health and safety legislation and CDM Regulations.
  • A recognised health and safety qualification such as NEBOSH Construction Certificate/Diploma or equivalent.
  • Membership of IOSH at an appropriate level, ideally working towards or holding Chartered status.
  • Significant experience working on active construction sites.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • The confidence to challenge unsafe practices and influence project teams at all levels.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities across multiple projects.
  • A practical, solutions-focused approach to health and safety.
  • A full UK driving licence, as regular travel between projects will be required.

What We Offer:

  • A key role within a well-established and growing construction business.
  • The opportunity to work across a varied, multi-sector project portfolio throughout Central Scotland.
  • A competitive salary and benefits package.
  • Company vehicle/car allowance.
  • Professional development and training opportunities.
  • The opportunity to influence and further develop the company's health and safety culture.
  • A supportive and collaborative working environment.
  • Long-term career opportunities within a growing organisation.

The role will be based from our Alloa office, with regular travel required to construction projects across the Central Belt of Scotland, including areas such as Stirling, Falkirk, Perthshire, Fife, Edinburgh, Glasgow and surrounding locations.
