Health & Safety Specialist

Elevation Recruitment Group are delighted to be working in partnership with a leading engineering and manufacturing business to recruit a Health & Safety Specialist for 15 months to cover maternity.

Working closely with senior leadership, you will play a key role in developing and embedding a proactive safety culture, ensuring compliance with legislation, and driving continuous improvement across the site.

Reporting into the Quality, Health & Safety Manager, the Health & Safety Specialist will take ownership of day-to-day health and safety activities, helping to develop robust processes, improve compliance and promote best practice across the organisation.

A key focus of the role will be supporting and developing electrical safety standards, alongside ensuring the business remains fully compliant with all relevant health and safety legislation.

• Support the development, implementation and continuous improvement of the company's Health & Safety policies and procedures.
• Promote a positive safety culture and ensure Health & Safety standards are consistently applied across the business.
• Carry out and review risk assessments, implementing effective control measures where required.
• Investigate accidents, incidents and near misses, identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
• Conduct regular workplace audits and inspections, driving continuous improvement initiatives.
• Work closely with operational teams to ensure employees, contractors and visitors receive appropriate information, instruction, training and supervision.
• Support the delivery of Health & Safety training programmes across the business.
• Coordinate the provision, management and certification of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
• Support regulator visits and external inspections, ensuring all required documentation and compliance activities are maintained.

We're looking for an engaging and proactive Health & Safety professional who enjoys working with people and influencing positive behavioural change.

You'll ideally have:

• NEBOSH General Certificate (or working towards).
• IOSH membership or IOSH qualification.
• Previous experience in a Health & Safety role within a manufacturing, engineering or industrial environment.
• A strong understanding of UK Health & Safety legislation and risk management principles.
• Experience carrying out risk assessments, audits and incident investigations.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
