Hourly Rate: £18.00 - £22.00 per hour
OTE: £60,000 - £80,000+ per year
Hours: Monday – Friday rotating shifts:
Week 1: 06:00 – 14:30 | Week 2: 13:00 – 21:30
Earning Potential (OTE)
- Hourly Rate: £18.00 - £22.00 per hour
- Basic Salary: Circa £43,500 per year (based on 40-hour week)
- Overtime Rate: Paid at time-and-a-half (1.5x)
- Mobile Call-Outs: Additional earnings available for breakdown attendance on late shifts
- Very Realistic OTE: £70,000 - £80,000+ per year including overtime and call-out payments
We're looking for a skilled HGV Mechanic to join a well-respected commercial vehicle specialist in Burton-On-Trent. This role offers a rotating early/late shift pattern, with mobile call-out responsibilities on late shifts providing significant additional earning potential. For the right candidate, IRTEC and Class 1 licence training will be provided.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform routine maintenance and servicing of HGVs to industry standards.
- Prepare and present vehicles and trailers for MOT inspections.
- Diagnose and repair faults using modern diagnostic equipment.
- On late shifts, attend mobile call-outs and breakdowns to support customers roadside.
- Maintain workshop cleanliness and health & safety standards.
- Accurately complete all required paperwork.
- Level 3 Qualification (City & Guilds / NVQ) in HGV Mechanics or equivalent, or substantial time-served experience.
- HGV licence is an advantage but not essential.
- Diagnostic experience is beneficial.
- A team player with a proactive approach to vehicle maintenance.
- Willingness to cover mobile call-out duties on late shifts.
