HGV Technician – The Opportunity

We are currently recruiting on behalf of an established and growing specialist business looking for an experienced HGV Technician to join their team in Wolverhampton.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a qualified Commercial Vehicle / HGV Technician looking for a stable Monday-to-Friday position, competitive salary and regular overtime opportunities.

The successful candidate will work on a varied fleet of commercial vehicles, carrying out servicing, diagnostics, repairs, inspections and preventative maintenance.

The Package

  • £48,000 to £50,000 basic salary
  • Monday to Friday, 08:00 – 17:30
  • 45 hours per week
  • Overtime paid at 1.5× hourly rate
  • 20 days' annual leave + public holidays (28 days total)

About the Company

Our client is a well-established specialist vehicle hire business with multiple depots across the UK.

The Role

As an HGV Technician, your responsibilities will include:

  • Servicing and maintaining a diverse range of commercial vehicles
  • Diagnosing and repairing mechanical and electrical faults
  • Carrying out vehicle inspections
  • Vehicle diagnostics and fault finding
  • Repairing vehicle defects
  • Preparing vehicles for MOT
  • Carrying out preventative maintenance
  • Ensuring all vehicles are maintained to a safe and roadworthy standard

The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for an experienced HGV / Commercial Vehicle Technician who has a strong mechanical background and can confidently carry out diagnostics, servicing and repairs.

Essential:

  • HGV / Commercial Vehicle Mechanical qualification equivalent to NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds or a full Main Dealership Apprenticeship
  • Previous experience working with commercial vehicles / HGVs
  • Full current UK driving licence
  • Good mechanical and diagnostic skills
  • Strong understanding of vehicle maintenance and repair
