Our client, a leading provider of facilities services in the UK, is seeking a Maintenance Technician to play a key role in delivering high-quality hard services maintenance within a commercial office environment.
Working across a single, low-complexity site, you will carry out a wide range of planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance tasks, helping to ensure the building remains safe, compliant and fully operational.
Job Description
This is a varied position suited to a multi-skilled maintenance professional with strong building fabric experience and a practical understanding of mechanical, electrical and public health services. The role combines hands-on maintenance activities with responsibility for overseeing specialist contractors and supporting site compliance requirements.
We are looking for a maintenance professional who enjoys a varied workload and is comfortable working independently. Some days will involve carrying out maintenance activities, while others will focus on monitoring site activities, managing contractors and supporting building operations.
The successful candidate will help maintain a safe, compliant and efficient working environment through the completion of planned and reactive maintenance tasks, statutory checks and accurate record keeping.
Key Responsibilities
- Complete planned preventative maintenance (PPM) schedules and reactive maintenance tasks within agreed service levels.
- Carry out building fabric maintenance including carpentry, joinery, ceiling and floor finishes, doors, locks, ironmongery and minor repairs.
- Perform fire safety routines including call point testing, emergency lighting checks, fire door inspections and fire extinguisher checks.
- Undertake water hygiene and Legionella control tasks in line with site procedures and compliance requirements.
- Support mechanical, HVAC and building services maintenance including inspections, cleaning, adjustments and routine checks.
- Monitor building management systems (BMS), identify alarms or faults and escalate issues where required.
- Manage and oversee specialist contractors, including permit-to-work administration, inductions and health and safety monitoring.
- Maintain accurate records within the CAFM system and ensure all statutory, compliance and maintenance documentation is completed correctly.
Person Specification
- Demonstrable experience completing planned preventative maintenance (PPM) activities within a facilities management or building services environment.
- Practical building fabric maintenance skills, including carpentry, joinery, doors, locks, ceilings and flooring.
- Experience carrying out both planned and reactive maintenance tasks.
- Knowledge of fire alarm testing and emergency lighting testing.
- Understanding of health and safety procedures, including permits to work, risk assessments and safe systems of work.
- Ability to work independently and manage a varied workload.
- Comfortable working in an environment where workload can fluctuate between busy operational periods and quieter days overseeing contractors.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to build positive relationships with clients, colleagues and contractors.
