Herts Resourcing Group (HRG) is recruiting on behalf of our client, Hertford Regional College (HRC), for a Workshop Technician to support the Electrical Installation department throughout the 2026/27 academic year.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with practical electrical installation experience who enjoys working in a hands-on environment and would like to use their skills within an education setting.

The Role

Working closely with the Electrical Installation teaching team, you will help ensure the workshop is prepared, organised and equipped to provide learners with a safe and effective practical learning environment.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Building and preparing electrical training rigs for practical sessions
  • Preparing the workshop, equipment and materials ahead of lessons
  • Ordering and maintaining appropriate materials and workshop supplies
  • Keeping the workshop clean, safe and well organised
  • Assisting with the general maintenance and organisation of tools and equipment
  • Supporting lecturers during practical sessions, particularly when working with larger groups of learners
  • Helping ensure learners have access to the equipment and resources required for their practical work

About You

To be considered for this position, you should have either:

  • A Level 2 qualification in Electrical Installation or a related electrical discipline; and/or
  • A minimum of one year's proven practical experience within electrical installations

You will also need to be organised, reliable and comfortable working within a busy practical workshop environment. Previous experience within education or a college setting would be beneficial but is not essential.

Contract Details

This is a temporary agency worker position through Herst Resourcing Group, working on assignment with Hertford Regional College.

The role is for 18 hours per week, with flexibility available around how those hours are worked. The successful candidate will be required to start as soon as possible, with the assignment expected to continue for the full 2026/27 academic year.

There is also the potential for additional hours, which will be reviewed in December 2026.
