Hours: Monday–Friday, 6:00am–4:30pm, plus alternate Saturdays 6:00am–11:30am. Average 47.75 hours per week over a two-week period, with a slightly later shift included.

We are currently recruiting for a skilled and motivated HGV Technician to join an established and professional workshop based in Bishops Cleeve.

This is a fantastic opportunity to join a busy team where you will play an important role in maintaining a commercial vehicle fleet, ensuring vehicles are safe, reliable and available for operation.

The Role

Reporting to the Workshop Manager, you will be responsible for carrying out high-quality servicing, maintenance and repairs across a range of HGVs and commercial vehicles.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Carrying out inspections, servicing and repairs on HGVs and commercial vehicles.
  • Completing warranty work where required.
  • Diagnosing and repairing mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical faults.
  • Preparing vehicles for annual MOT testing.
  • Identifying and accurately reporting vehicle defects.
  • Completing service documentation and job records accurately.
  • Following all company health & safety procedures, risk assessments and Safe Operating Procedures.
  • Maintaining a clean, safe and professional workshop environment.
  • Supporting and mentoring apprentice technicians.
  • Providing roadside assistance when required and safe to do so.
  • Keeping technical knowledge and qualifications up to date through ongoing training.
  • Working flexibly to support operational requirements, including occasional cover at other sites.

About You

The successful candidate will ideally have:

  • City & Guilds Parts 1, 2 & 3, NVQ Level 3 or an equivalent qualification in HGV maintenance.
  • Alternatively, 10+ years' relevant HGV maintenance experience will be considered.
  • A valid HGV licence, ideally minimum Class 2.
  • A valid digital tachograph card and Driver CPC.
  • Good knowledge of tachograph systems.
  • Strong technical knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical systems.
  • Excellent fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
  • A strong understanding of Health & Safety legislation and safe working practices.
  • The ability to work efficiently and complete repairs to a high standard.
  • Good communication skills and a professional approach.
  • The ability to work independently as well as part of a wider team.
  • A practical, proactive approach to problem-solving.
