Hours: Rotating shift pattern — Week 1: 6:30am–2:30pm | Week 2: 2:00pm–10:00pm, with a 30-minute unpaid lunch break. Plus alternate Saturdays, 7:30am–12:00pm.

We are currently recruiting for a skilled and motivated HGV Technician to join an established commercial vehicle maintenance team based in Colnbrook.
This is an excellent opportunity to work within a supportive team and play a key role in keeping a busy HGV fleet safe, reliable and operational.
The Role
Reporting to the Workshop Manager, you will be responsible for carrying out high-quality inspections, servicing, maintenance and repairs across a range of HGVs and commercial vehicles.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Carrying out inspections, servicing and repairs on HGVs and commercial vehicles.
- Completing warranty work where required.
- Preparing and presenting HGVs for annual MOT testing.
- Diagnosing and repairing mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical faults.
- Identifying and accurately reporting vehicle defects.
- Completing service documentation and job records in line with company procedures.
- Following all health & safety procedures, risk assessments and Safe Operating Procedures.
- Maintaining a clean, safe and professional workshop environment.
- Supporting and mentoring apprentice technicians.
- Providing roadside assistance when required and safe to do so.
- Keeping technical knowledge and skills up to date through ongoing training.
- Working flexibly to support operational requirements, including occasional cover at other sites.
About You
The successful candidate will ideally have:
- City & Guilds Parts 1, 2 & 3, NVQ Level 3 or an equivalent qualification in HGV maintenance.
- Alternatively, 10+ years' relevant HGV maintenance experience will be considered.
- A valid HGV licence, ideally minimum Class 2.
- A valid digital tachograph card and Driver CPC.
- Good knowledge of tachograph systems.
- Strong technical knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical systems.
- Excellent fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
- A strong understanding of Health & Safety legislation and safe working practices.
- The ability to complete repairs efficiently and to a high standard.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- A proactive approach to problem-solving and a willingness to take on new challenges.
- Flexibility to work the required rotating shift pattern.
