About the Role
We are currently recruiting for experienced HGV Technicians to join a well-established commercial vehicle workshop in Warrington.
The role involves servicing, maintaining, inspecting and repairing HGVs, trailers and associated equipment, ensuring all work is completed safely and to a high standard.
We are also open to candidates who are not yet fully qualified. If you have relevant HGV, vehicle maintenance or engineering experience but do not hold all the required qualifications, we can also consider you for our Semi-Skilled HGV Technician opportunity, with training and development available to help you progress towards becoming a fully qualified HGV Technician.

Key Responsibilities
Vehicle Inspection & Maintenance
  • Carry out routine servicing, inspections and maintenance of HGVs and trailers.
  • Carry out repairs and replacement of vehicle components where required.
  • Support preventative maintenance activities to maximise vehicle reliability.
  • Identify defects and ensure vehicles meet required safety and roadworthiness standards.
  • Assist with preparing vehicles and trailers for MOT and annual testing.
Diagnostics & Repairs
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical faults.
  • Support fault-finding and diagnostic activities.
  • Carry out repairs to mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
  • Use appropriate workshop diagnostic equipment and specialist tools.
  • Complete post-repair checks to ensure work has been completed correctly.
Reconditioning & Workshop Duties
  • Assist with vehicle and trailer refurbishment and reconditioning projects.
  • Support fabrication and welding activities where trained and authorised.
  • Maintain workshop tools, equipment and work areas.
  • Maintain high standards of workshop housekeeping and cleanliness.
Compliance & Administration
  • Complete job cards, inspection sheets and maintenance records accurately.
  • Follow company procedures and manufacturer guidelines.
  • Ensure all work is completed in accordance with Health & Safety requirements.
  • Report defects, safety concerns and maintenance issues to the Workshop Foreman.
Teamwork & Development
  • Work effectively with technicians, foremen and other workshop colleagues.
  • Maintain a positive and professional attitude at all times.
  • Support the delivery of high-quality workmanship and customer service.
  • Participate in training and development activities where required.
  • Continue developing technical knowledge and diagnostic skills.
What We're Looking For
Essential
  • Previous experience working with HGVs, commercial vehicles or trailers.
  • Good understanding of vehicle maintenance and repair.
  • Strong mechanical fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
  • Good practical aptitude and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Reliable, punctual and safety conscious.
  • Commitment to producing high-quality workmanship.
Desirable
  • Relevant HGV / Heavy Vehicle Maintenance & Repair qualification.
  • Experience working in a commercial vehicle workshop.
  • Experience with mechanical, electrical, hydraulic or pneumatic systems.
  • Welding or fabrication experience.
  • Full UK Driving Licence.
  • Experience using hand tools, workshop equipment and diagnostic equipment.
Not fully qualified?
If you have hands-on HGV or vehicle maintenance experience but are still working towards your qualifications, we can also consider you for our Semi-Skilled HGV Technician role, with training and development opportunities available.
