The Role
We are looking to recruit motivated and dedicated Higher Level Teaching Assistants to support pupils with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) and/or severe learning difficulties.
Working alongside teachers and multidisciplinary professionals, you will contribute to the delivery of high-quality learning experiences, helping pupils achieve their academic, social, and developmental goals. You will be confident leading learning activities and supporting lessons while maintaining a positive and engaging classroom environment.
Essential Requirements
HLTA status or an equivalent Level 4 qualification.
Proven experience supporting children or young people with ASC and/or severe learning difficulties.
Experience delivering lessons and structured learning activities under the direction of teaching staff.
Good understanding of SEN strategies and support tools, including visual timetables, sensory-based approaches, and alternative communication methods.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
A patient, compassionate, and consistent approach to supporting pupils.
Desirable Requirements
Team Teach certification or experience using positive behaviour support strategies.
Knowledge of PECS, Makaton, or other Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) systems.
Understanding of safeguarding and child protection responsibilities within specialist education settings.
