Highways Operative

Belmont Recruitment are currently recruiting for a Highways Operative to work with our client based in Gateshead. This is a full-time role working 39 hours per week, Monday to Friday.

Overview:

The role holder will be responsible for carrying out a range of highways maintenance works, including repairs, improvements and general upkeep of highways infrastructure.

Main Duties:

• Carrying out highways maintenance works including tarmac repairs, resurfacing and reinstatement works
• Undertaking kerb laying, footpath repairs and flagstone laying/repairs
• Completing general highways repairs and maintenance tasks to a high standard
• Working as part of a highways team to deliver works safely and efficiently
• Operating hand tools and equipment relevant to highways works
• Ensuring all work is completed in line with health and safety procedures
• Supporting with general highway improvement and maintenance activities

Essential Criteria:

• Previous experience working within a highways environment
• Full UK driving licence
• Experience and knowledge of all aspects of highways work, including tarmac, kerb laying, footpath repairs and flagstone laying/repairs
• Experience using relevant tools and equipment
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team
• Good understanding of health and safety requirements
