Are you a Quantity Surveyor looking to take greater ownership of the commercial performance of highways and civil engineering projects?
My client is looking for a proactive Quantity Surveyor to join its commercial team, supporting the successful delivery of highway maintenance and infrastructure schemes across Area 6 & 8.
You will be joining an established highways business where you will have the opportunity to work closely with operational teams, subcontractors, suppliers and clients while developing your experience across cost control, NEC contract administration, forecasting and commercial risk management.

What you will be doing
As a Quantity Surveyor, you will play a key role in managing the financial and contractual performance of projects from cost planning through to final account.
You will be:
·Carrying out monthly cost and value reconciliations and monitoring project financial performance.
·Assessing and submitting quotations and compensation events.
·Pricing and submitting quotations for highway maintenance and civil engineering works.
·Ensuring scheme costs are accurately recorded and resolving any commercial queries.
·Preparing and submitting final accounts, ensuring billing is accurate and completed within required timescales.
·Managing subcontractor accounts, including issuing orders, assessing applications for payment and processing payments.
·Identifying financial and contractual risks at an early stage and supporting appropriate mitigation strategies.
·Providing commercial advice on claims, cost overruns, variations and changes in scope.
·Working closely with operational teams to ensure projects remain commercially sound and cost-effective.
·Liaising with clients, subcontractors and suppliers to maintain strong commercial relationships.
·Attending internal and external project and commercial meetings.
·Supporting efficient procurement through accurate cost information and effective supplier relationships.
·Ensuring contractual obligations are understood and appropriately managed throughout the project lifecycle.
What you will need
To be successful in this Quantity Surveyor role, you will ideally have:
·A Quantity Surveying degree or equivalent relevant experience.
·Experience working with NEC3 and/or NEC4 contracts.
·Experience working on framework contracts.
·Previous experience administering NEC Option C contracts.
·A background managing complex or high-value civil engineering, drainage or highways projects.
·Strong commercial awareness and experience of cost control, forecasting and risk management.
·Good digital skills, particularly Microsoft Office.
·Experience working with subcontractors and managing commercial accounts.
·Strong written and verbal communication skills.
·Good organisational and time management skills.
·The ability to work independently while contributing effectively as part of a wider project team.
·A full UK Driving Licence.
Previous highways or National Highways experience would be particularly beneficial.

The role is based around Bury St Edmunds, supporting projects across Area 6 & 8, with travel to project, client and office locations as required.
