This is far more than a teaching role. You'll have the opportunity to deliver engaging, personalised lessons that ignite curiosity, encourage critical thinking and help pupils develop a genuine love of learning. Working within a specialist setting, you'll tailor your teaching to meet individual needs, ensuring every pupil can achieve meaningful progress both academically and personally.

You'll be part of a supportive, forward-thinking team where innovation is encouraged, relationships come first and every success is celebrated.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Plan and deliver engaging, high-quality History lessons that inspire curiosity and achievement.
  • Adapt learning to meet the individual needs of pupils with SEND, SEMH and additional learning needs.
  • Create a safe, inclusive and nurturing classroom where pupils feel confident to participate and succeed.
  • Monitor, assess and celebrate pupil progress, using assessment to inform future learning.
  • Encourage pupils to develop critical thinking, communication skills and a deeper understanding of historical events and their relevance today.
  • Work collaboratively with teaching assistants, therapists, families and the wider multidisciplinary team to provide consistent, high-quality support.
  • Contribute to curriculum development, enrichment activities and whole-school improvement.
  • Promote pupils' personal development, resilience, independence and emotional wellbeing.

What We're Looking For

We're looking for someone who is:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS/PGCE) or equivalent.
  • Passionate about History and committed to making learning engaging and accessible for every pupil.
  • Creative, adaptable and able to personalise learning for a wide range of abilities and needs.
  • Experienced in, or keen to develop expertise in, teaching pupils with SEND, SEMH or additional needs.
  • An excellent communicator who builds positive relationships with pupils, colleagues and families.
  • Calm, patient and resilient, with a positive and solution-focused approach.
  • Committed to safeguarding, inclusion and helping every young person achieve their full potential.
