We are currently recruiting an experienced Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join a welcoming primary school in Lambeth on a full-time basis starting in September. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled HLTA to take on a varied and rewarding role within a supportive school community.

The Role

In this Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) role you will provide PPA cover and lead targeted intervention sessions across the school. You will work with all age groups from Nursery to year 6.  You will work closely with class teachers and support staff to deliver engaging lessons and help raise attainment across a range of subjects. 

 Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver planned lessons to whole classes during teachers’ PPA time.
  • Lead small group and one-to-one intervention sessions to support pupil progress.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers to ensure continuity and consistency in learning.
  • Contribute to planning, assessment, and classroom management as needed.
  • Support pupils’ social and emotional development in line with the school’s values.
  • Provide class cover when teaching staff are sick/absent.

About You

  • Qualified HLTA with a minimum of one year’s experience.
  • Strong understanding of the primary curriculum.
  • Confident in leading whole classes and delivering engaging lessons.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.
  • Flexible, positive, and committed to supporting children’s learning and wellbeing.

This oversubscribed two form entry primary school is based close to Clapham Common. The school benefits from excellent facilities including music rooms, forest school in woodland and a technology suite.  The school works hard to build relationships with children and families, ensuring that all children are known, valued and their individual needs recognised and met. Staff have high expectations of pupils and results at the school are consistently good. There is a dedicated leadership team in place ensuring both staff and pupils feel valued and have opportunities to develop their careers.
