We are working in partnership with a highly regarded mainstream primary school in Charmouth to recruit a caring and dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant. Based within Key Stage 2, this rewarding role focuses on providing tailored support for pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEN) and Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.
This is far more than a classroom support position. It’s an opportunity to build meaningful relationships, help children feel safe and understood, and empower them to develop confidence, resilience and a love of learning within a nurturing and inclusive environment.
As a SEND Teaching Assistant, you will:
• Provide tailored one-to-one and small-group support for pupils with SEN and SEMH needs
• Work closely with the class teacher to adapt learning activities and implement effective support strategies
• Create a calm, positive and structured environment where pupils can feel secure and succeed
• Use behaviour management and de-escalation techniques to support emotional regulation and engagement
• Encourage positive social interactions, independence and participation in all aspects of school life
• Track progress, celebrate achievements and support pupils to reach their full potential
• Assist in developing and adapting learning resources to meet individual needs
• Take part in ongoing training and professional development, including trauma-informed and attachment-aware practice
We are seeking someone who:
• Has experience working with children, ideally within a school, SEND or support setting
• Demonstrates empathy, patience and resilience, with a genuine passion for supporting young people
• Builds positive, trusting relationships and communicates effectively with pupils and colleagues
• Can work independently while contributing positively to a collaborative team environment
• Holds a Level 2 or Level 3 qualification in Supporting Teaching and Learning (desirable but not essential)

Pay: £92 – £97 per day
Full-time: Monday to Friday
