Housing Advisor

Location: South London/Hybrid Working
Contract: Initial 6-month contract
Working Pattern: 3 days office / 2 days home
PAYE: £23.51 per hour
Limited/Umbrella: £30.67 per hour

We are currently seeking an experienced Housing Advisor to join a South London Local Authority on an initial 6-month contract.

The successful candidate will provide comprehensive housing advice and casework, with a strong focus on preventing and relieving homelessness in accordance with the Homelessness Reduction Act 2017, Housing Act 1996 Part VII, Code of Guidance and relevant case law.

Key responsibilities include managing a complex caseload, completing housing needs assessments and Personalised Housing Plans, investigating homelessness applications and recommending appropriate decisions. You will work proactively with customers to explore all available housing options and prevent homelessness through advice, advocacy, landlord negotiation, mediation and access to alternative accommodation.

You will also assess temporary accommodation requirements, provide private rented sector and welfare benefit advice, support customers affected by welfare reform and maintain accurate casework records.

The successful candidate will have previous Housing Options/Homelessness experience within a Local Authority and a strong working knowledge of homelessness legislation and housing options.
