Remote-friendly

A Surrey-based Local Authority, located just 40 minutes from London, is seeking an experienced Housing Adviser to join their Homelessness Service. This is a 6-month initial contract paying £26-£30 per hour, with the potential for extension and an ASAP start.

This position is focused on homelessness triage and prevention work. You will act as the first point of contact for residents approaching the council for housing assistance, carrying out initial assessments, providing housing advice, and directing cases into the appropriate pathways.

Key duties include carrying out homelessness triage and initial assessments, providing housing advice and prevention support, assessing applications under the Homelessness Reduction Act, creating and updating Personal Housing Plans, signposting clients to relevant services, and maintaining accurate case records on Jigsaw.

The successful candidate will have previous experience within a Housing Options, Housing Advice or Homelessness Prevention team, along with a solid understanding of homelessness legislation. Experience using Jigsaw is highly desirable.

The council offers hybrid working, although applicants who can commit to a higher level of office attendance are likely to be viewed more favourably during the selection process.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a supportive team at a well-run authority and secure a long-term contract within a busy homelessness service. Apply now for immediate consideration.
