Housing Strategy Lead

London l Hybrid 1 day a week office l 6-12 months

An excellent opportunity for an experienced Housing Strategy Lead to lead the development and delivery of an evidence-led housing strategy and action plan on an interim basis.

You will manage an appointed consultant, oversee stakeholder engagement, and lead the strategy through consultation, approval, publication and delivery monitoring. You will work closely with elected Members, registered providers, Adult Social Care, Children’s Services, Public Health, NHS partners and other key stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities as a Housing Strategy Lead

• Lead the development of a strategic housing strategy and action plan.

• Commission and coordinate housing needs analysis, research and evidence gathering.

• Manage consultants and ensure high-quality strategy outputs.

• Lead stakeholder engagement, consultation and Steering Group activity.

• Develop and monitor a clear, outcomes-focused action plan.

• Manage governance, approval, publication and delivery processes.

• Provide progress updates, identify risks and advise senior leaders and partners.

About You

• Significant experience in strategic housing needs, housing policy or a related field.

• Proven experience developing housing strategies, such as Affordable Housing, Supported Housing or Homelessness strategies.

• Strong knowledge of housing needs assessments and strategic housing evidence.

• Excellent stakeholder engagement, consultation and project management skills.

• Strong research, analytical and written communication abilities.

• Experience developing and monitoring delivery-focused action plans.

• Local government or wider public sector experience is desirable.
