HR Business Partner

KD Recruitment

Are you an experienced HR generalist who is people focused, confident managing employee relations matters independently and supporting managers as a people partner, across multiple sites?

We are working exclusively with a well-established organisation looking for an HR Business Partner to join their People Partnering team, supporting managers across sites in Scarborough, Bridlington, Beverley and Hull.

This is a hands-on, varied HR role where you will act as a trusted point of contact for departmental managers, many of whom may have limited HR knowledge. You will need to be confident giving clear, practical advice, explaining employment matters in a straightforward way and working independently across a broad range of employee relations issues.

What the HR Business Partner job involves

You will provide day-to-day generalist HR support across a number of sites, building strong relationships with managers and helping them deal confidently and appropriately with people matters.

  • Managing a broad range of employee relations casework including disciplinary, grievance, capability, absence, redundancy and other complex people issues.
  • Advising department managers on current employment law, HR policies and best practice.
  • Supporting department managers through investigations, hearings and formal processes.
  • Coaching and guiding managers who may not have a strong HR background, helping them understand both the process and the practical approach required.
  • Supporting organisational change, restructures and people-related projects.
  • Advising on recruitment, contractual matters, performance management and the wider employee lifecycle.
  • Working collaboratively with colleagues within the People Partnering team while being confident operating independently across your designated areas.
  • Travelling regularly between sites across Scarborough, Bridlington, Beverley and Hull.

Skills required

We are looking for someone with a strong HR generalist background and, importantly, the experience and confidence to operate in a largely standalone capacity.

  • Strong employee relations knowledge and proven experience managing ER cases from start to finish.
  • Up-to-date knowledge of UK employment law and HR best practice.
  • The confidence to advise and appropriately challenge managers at different levels.
  • The ability to explain HR processes clearly to managers who may have little or no HR knowledge.
  • Strong communication, influencing and relationship-building skills.
  • The ability to prioritise a varied workload and make sound decisions independently.
  • Experience gained within a professional services, public sector, education or similarly regulated environment would be particularly relevant.
  • A CIPD qualification would be beneficial, although candidates who are qualified through relevant experience will also be considered.
  • A full UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle due to the regular travel between sites.

Other information

This is a great opportunity for an experienced HR professional who enjoys being visible within a business, working closely with managers and dealing with the full range of day-to-day HR challenges.

  • Full time working 37 hours a week
  • 30 days holiday plus bank holidays
  • Hybrid and flexible working available
  • Mileage paid for travel between sites
  • Enhanced Maternity / Paternity pay
  • Own Driving licence and access to a car is essential
