We’re currently looking for an experienced and personable HR Consultant to join our growing team and provide high quality, practical HR support to small and medium sized businesses.
Our clients rely on us to be their trusted HR partner - helping them navigate the day-to-day people challenges that come with running a business, while also supporting them with longer-term HR strategy and development.
This is a varied role where no two days are the same. You’ll work with a range of businesses and sectors, providing practical advice, guidance and hands-on HR support. You’ll need to be confident working independently, building strong client relationships and translating HR best practice into straightforward, commercially sensible solutions.
The Role
In the HR Consultant role you will provide a broad range of HR consultancy services, including:
- Acting as a trusted HR adviser to SME business owners and managers
- Providing practical advice on employee relations matters
- Supporting clients with recruitment, onboarding and employee lifecycle processes
- Drafting and reviewing employment contracts, policies, procedures and HR documentation
- Advising on employment law and ensuring clients remain compliant with current legislation
- Supporting organisational change, restructures, redundancies and TUPE where required
- Helping clients develop effective HR processes and people strategies
- Carrying out HR audits and identifying areas for improvement
- Supporting clients with performance management and employee development
- Keeping up to date with changes in employment legislation and HR best practice
- Maintaining accurate client records and ensuring advice is appropriately documented
- Delivering HR projects and consultancy assignments as required
About you
The ideal HR Consultant will be someone who combines strong technical HR and UK Employment Law knowledge with excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
You’ll ideally have:
- Previous experience working in an HR advisory or HR consultancy role
- A strong understanding of UK employment law and HR best practice
- Experience managing a broad range of employee relations cases
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- The confidence to advise business owners, directors and managers
- A pragmatic and commercially aware approach to HR
- The ability to explain complex HR and employment law matters clearly and simply
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple clients and priorities
- CIPD qualification is desirable in this role
- Knowledge of Health & Safety in the workplace would be an advantage
