The Role

As HR Manager, you will have full ownership of the HR function, supporting the business across all aspects of people management, employee engagement and organisational development.

Working closely with the Board of Directors and Managers, you will provide expert guidance, develop HR processes and ensure the business continues to attract, retain and develop talented employees.

This is a hands-on role where you'll balance strategic HR responsibilities with day-to-day operational support.


Key Responsibilities

360 HR Ownership
  • Take full responsibility for the HR function, providing support across the complete employee lifecycle.
  • Develop and implement effective HR strategies, policies and processes aligned with business goals.
  • Act as a trusted advisor to Directors and Managers on all people-related matters.
Employee Relations & Employment Law
  • Manage complex employee relations matters including disciplinaries, grievances, investigations, capability issues and attendance management.
  • Provide practical advice and guidance on employment law, HR best practice and risk management.
  • Ensure HR policies, contracts and procedures remain compliant, up to date and consistently applied.
Recruitment & Workforce Planning
  • Oversee recruitment, selection, onboarding and induction processes.
  • Support workforce planning to ensure the business has the right people and skills to meet operational requirements.
  • Develop succession plans for key roles across the organisation.
Learning, Development & Manager Coaching
  • Identify training and development needs across the business.
  • Create and deliver learning plans covering technical skills, compliance, health & safety and leadership development.
  • Coach managers to improve confidence, communication and people management capability.
Culture, Engagement & Wellbeing
  • Champion employee engagement and help create a positive workplace culture.
  • Introduce initiatives that improve morale, wellbeing and employee experience.
  • Support Occupational Health processes, welfare meetings and workplace adjustments.
HR Systems, Reporting & Payroll
  • Maintain accurate employee records and ensure HR documentation is audit-ready.
  • Manage the HR system, including employee records, permissions and workflow processes.
  • Oversee holiday and absence management reporting.
  • Coordinate payroll processes, ensuring accurate information is provided to Finance and payroll providers.
  • Produce HR reports, KPIs and insights for the Board.

About You

We’re looking for someone who is passionate about people and enjoys being visible and approachable across the business.

You’ll be someone who can build strong relationships at all levels, influence managers and provide practical solutions to everyday people challenges.

Ideally, you will have:
  • CIPD Level 5 qualification.
  • A degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or a related discipline.
  • Proven experience working as an HR Manager or Senior HR Advisor ready for the next step.
  • Experience managing a full 360 HR function.
  • Previous experience within manufacturing, engineering, logistics or a fast-paced operational environment would be advantageous.
  • Strong knowledge of UK employment law and HR best practice.
  • Experience partnering with senior leaders and supporting strategic decision making.
  • Excellent communication, influencing and relationship-building skills.
  • A proactive, confidential and solutions-focused approach.
