Elvet Recruitment is delighted to be working in partnership with a well-established, family-owned construction and engineering business to recruit an HR Manager to join their team.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced HR professional to take ownership of a varied HR function, working closely with employees, managers and senior leadership across the business. The successful candidate will be confident providing practical HR advice, managing employee relations and supporting the full employee lifecycle.

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Managing the day-to-day HR function across the business
  • Providing HR advice and guidance to managers and employees
  • Managing employee relations, including disciplinary, grievance, performance and capability matters
  • Managing absence, sickness and return-to-work processes
  • Supporting recruitment, onboarding and new starter processes
  • Maintaining accurate employee records and HR systems
  • Reviewing and maintaining HR policies and procedures
  • Advising managers on employment legislation and HR best practice
  • Supporting performance management, appraisals and employee development
  • Coordinating training and development requirements
  • Working closely with payroll on employee changes and payroll-related matters
  • Supporting HR compliance, audits, employee engagement and continuous improvement

What We're Looking For:

  • Previous experience within an HR Manager, HR Advisor, HR Business Partner or similar generalist HR role
  • Strong knowledge of UK employment legislation and generalist HR practices
  • Experience managing employee relations, including disciplinary, grievance, absence and performance matters
  • Strong organisational skills with excellent attention to detail
  • Confident communication skills with the ability to advise managers and employees at all levels
  • Professional, approachable and commercially aware
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
  • Strong Microsoft Office and HR systems experience
  • Previous experience within construction, engineering, manufacturing, haulage, logistics or another operational environment would be advantageous
  • CIPD qualification or working towards CIPD would be advantageous
