To maximize the operational availability, safety, and reliability of heavy industrial processing plant, fixed sorting machinery, and mobile plant assets across quarrying and mineral processing sites. This mobile role focuses heavily on Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM), rapid breakdown fault-finding, and ensuring strict statutory electrical compliance under specific quarrying regulations.
Core Duties and Responsibilities
- Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM): Execute scheduled electrical inspection schedules on heavy production plant including crushers, screeners, wash plants, conveyors, and optical sorters.
- Reactive Fault-Finding & Repairs: Respond rapidly to site breakdowns, performing root-cause diagnostics on three-phase power systems, control panels, motors, star-delta starters, and PLC systems to minimize production downtime.
- Heavy Plant Electrical Care: Conduct safe electrical isolation, routine testing, and repair of components integrated into high-vibration, high-dust heavy machinery.
- Statutory Testing & Inspection: Carry out regular electrical installations testing, emergency lighting checks, and statutory documentation keeping to meet strict safety guidelines.
- Health & Safety Compliance: Strictly adhere to the site’s Permit to Work procedures and safe isolation protocols. Maintain the highest health, safety, and environmental standards required on active mineral extraction sites.
- Mobile Support Coverage: Travel dynamically across primary hubs in Oxfordshire (e.g., Witney, Wallingford) and neighbouring regions to service multiple fixed and sand/gravel quarries.
Candidate Requirements & Qualifications
- Heavy Industry Background: A proven track record working in quarries, open-cast mining, or heavy aggregates processing plants.
- Maintenance & PPM: Demonstrable experience executing planned preventative maintenance schedules on heavy machinery.
- Industrial Fault-Finding: Strong diagnostic skills in industrial 3-phase systems, motor control circuits, control panels, and star-delta starters.
- Full UK Driving Licence with a flexible attitude toward travelling across regional multi-sites.
- Electrical Qualifications: NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installation (or equivalent) and current 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (BS 7671).
- Advanced Testing: City & Guilds 2391 (or 2394/2395) Inspection and Testing qualification.
- Flexibility: whilst call out will not be required in the role, travel and staying away from home will be required at times.
- MPQC / SPA Quarry Safety Passport: - Desired but not essential
