Interim Communications Manager | Non For Profit 

📍 Hertfordshire

💷 £250 - £300 a day (inside of IR35 via Umbrella Company)

🏢 Three office days per week, with flexibility to consider two for the right person

📅 Target start: w/c 16 November 2026

James Stevens Associates are delighted to be working with a Social Housing organisation to find an experienced Communications Manager who enjoys getting stuck into the work and taking ownership.

You’ll join a small team during permanent recruitment, bringing the judgement and practical skills to keep communications moving.

Around half your work will be resident-facing, with the rest spanning internal and external communications. Priorities include:

▪️ Delivering the customer magazine, working with an external designer

▪️ Supporting annual rent-increase communications with care and clarity

▪️ Creating content across print, email, web and social

▪️ Advising colleagues and making confident recommendations

Housing experience would be useful, but we'd also welcome people from local government, the NHS, Charity or another regulated environments. Commercial experience is welcome too if you’re comfortable delivering with limited resources.

Strong writing, Microsoft Office, design tools such as Canva or Photoshop, and website CMS experience are important. You’ll need to be comfortable making decisions and seeing work through independently.
