Interim Payroll Manager in London, Greater London

Morgan Law is delighted to be supporting a well-established national charity and care provider in the search for an experienced Interim Payroll Manager to join them on an urgent basis.

With responsibility for approximately 650 employees across 10 locations and a National Team, this is a critical appointment following the departure of key payroll personnel.

The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in ensuring payroll continuity while supporting significant payroll transformation projects already underway.

Location: London (1-2 days per week onsite required)
Start Date: Within the next 2 weeks
Duration: 3-6 months initially
Rate: Up to £340 per day, depending on experience
Potential: Opportunity to convert to a permanent appointment

The Role
You will lead a small payroll function and ensure the accurate and timely delivery of payroll services across a complex workforce.

Payroll activities include:

• Variable hours and relief workers
• Overtime and enhancements
• Sleep-in payments
• Sickness and absence-related payments
• Salary sacrifice schemes and employee benefits
• Multiple terms and conditions of employment
• Pension and HMRC compliance

In addition, you will support several key projects, including:

• Rollout of a new rostering system
• Payroll process improvement and transformation
• Consolidation of multiple payroll databases into a single payroll solution
• Strengthening payroll controls, governance and reporting

About You
We're keen to hear from payroll professionals who can demonstrate:

• Extensive end-to-end payroll management experience
• Experience within the charity, not-for-profit, social care, healthcare or wider public sector environments
• Strong working knowledge of payroll legislation, HMRC requirements and pensions administration
• Experience managing complex payrolls with multiple employee groups
• Exposure to payroll transformation, systems implementation, migration or change programmes
• Ability to quickly stabilise a function and provide confident leadership during a period of transition
