Interim Senior Estates Surveyor

The Client requires an experienced RICS qualified surveyor to support the management, development and where necessary disposal of the extensive organisational estates portfolio. Key to all activities will be the need to maximise value of income, minimise costs / liabilities and promote efficient use of assets to support the operational requirements of the organisation.
The contract will be for a period of 6 months inside IR35, with a likely start date of mid October 2026.
This is a public sector organisation with a large number of sites across the south east of England
Main Responsibilities & Tasks of the role are likely to include:
- Supporting the Head of Estates in the regular review of the organisation’s Estate Strategy to ensure best value is achieved.
- Ensure the estates data base is updated with the latest and comprehensive information
- Lead the ongoing review of the estate to identify where, subject to operational requirements, cost savings and improved value for money might be achieved.
- Lead and manage landlord & tenant matters
- Manage the acquisition of land and/or premises for other facilities including search and identification of opportunities and, where appropriate, acquisition negotiations, reporting outcomes and liaison with solicitors. Where appropriate to optimising outcomes, procure independent acquisition reports and valuations and/or other related professional advice.
- Manage the process of achieving planning permission for new facilities and procuring specialist town & country planning consultancy advice where required.
- Deliver a programme of complex disposals of land and property in accordance with the organisation’s Estates Strategy to ensure optimal sale proceeds at minimum cost.
- Lead, in liaison with Local Planning Authorities and other external agencies and partners, in seeking section 106 agreements/Community Infrastructure Levy contributions etc. to support the development of the organisation’s estate.
This is a hybrid role with at least 2/3 days a week on site.
Travel will be required across the totality of the Estate on a regular basis
