Interim Senior Tax Manager – Part-Time (2-3 days per week)

We are seeking an experienced Senior Tax Manager to provide senior tax leadership and hands-on support on a part-time basis. The role will suit a technically strong tax professional who can quickly understand a business, provide pragmatic advice, manage key compliance requirements and support the wider finance team.

The successful candidate will take ownership of the organisation's day-to-day tax matters, ensuring obligations are met accurately and on time while identifying and managing tax risks and opportunities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Take responsibility for the company's UK tax affairs across relevant areas, including corporation tax, VAT, PAYE/NIC, employment taxes and other applicable taxes.
  • R&D claim preparation / submission and management of advisor relationship.
  • Provide the first review of tax compliance, ensuring all returns, payments and reporting requirements are completed accurately and within deadlines.
  • Manage relationships with HMRC, external tax advisers and other relevant stakeholders.
  • Provide clear, commercially focused tax advice to the CFO, senior management and wider business.
  • Identify, assess and manage tax risks, ensuring appropriate controls and processes are in place.
  • Support the preparation and review of tax provisions, forecasts and tax-related financial reporting.
  • Assist with tax audits, enquiries and information requests from HMRC or other authorities.
  • Support ad hoc tax projects and provide specialist input to wider finance and business initiatives.
We are looking for an experienced tax professional who can operate confidently and independently in an interim environment.

You will ideally have:
  • Significant experience in a Senior Tax Manager, Tax Manager or equivalent role.
  • Strong technical knowledge of UK taxation, with particular strength in corporation tax,  VAT and R&D claims.
  • Experience working in-house, ideally within a commercial or multi-entity organisation.
  • Experience dealing directly with HMRC and external advisers.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with excellent attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder-management skills.
  • A proactive, hands-on approach and the confidence to work autonomously.
