Veritas Education is seeking passionate and dedicated Intervention Support Workers to work within secondary schools across Dewsbury. This rewarding role is ideal for individuals who are committed to helping young people overcome barriers to learning, raise attainment, and achieve their full potential.
Working closely with teaching staff, SEND teams, and pastoral departments, you will provide targeted support to students requiring additional academic, behavioural, or emotional interventions.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver small group and one-to-one intervention sessions to support student progress.
- Work with pupils who require additional support in core subjects such as English and Maths.
- Support students with SEND, SEMH needs, or those at risk of underachievement.
- Encourage positive behaviour and engagement within lessons.
- Monitor progress and provide feedback to teaching and pastoral staff.
- Build positive relationships with students, helping to improve confidence, attendance, and wellbeing.
- Assist with classroom activities and provide in-class support where required.
The Ideal Candidate Will Have
- Experience working with young people in education, youth work, sports coaching, mentoring, care, or support settings.
- A positive, patient, and resilient approach.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
- A genuine passion for supporting young people to succeed.
- The ability to work effectively as part of a school team.
- GCSE Grade C/4 or above in English and Maths (or equivalent).
- Previous experience within a secondary school environment is desirable but not essential.
