Inventory Manager 

Salary: £50,000 per annum
Location: Chesterfield 

We are seeking an experienced Inventory Manager to take ownership of inventory, warehouse operations and inbound/outbound logistics within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

This is a hands-on, commercially focused role for someone who can lead teams, optimise stock levels and material flow, control logistics costs and ensure products are available and delivered efficiently to meet customer demand.

Key Responsibilities: 
  • Lead day-to-day inventory and warehouse operations, including goods-in, storage, picking, packing and dispatch.
  • Manage inbound and outbound logistics, including transport planning and vehicle utilisation.
  • Maintain accurate inventory and achieve optimum stock levels.
  • Optimise warehouse layout, space utilisation and material flow.
  • Coordinate with Production, Purchasing and Planning to align stock and delivery requirements.
  • Monitor and control inventory, warehouse, labour and transport costs.
  • Lead, train and develop warehouse supervisors and operatives.
  • Investigate and resolve stock discrepancies, damages and delivery issues.
  • Drive continuous improvement through Kanban, PI counts and improved inventory processes.
  • Ensure high standards of health & safety and operational compliance.
  • Maintain accurate inventory data through WMS/ERP systems.
About You: 

You will have proven experience in inventory, warehouse or logistics management within a manufacturing environment, with strong leadership and commercial awareness.

Essential:

  • Proven experience in Inventory/Warehouse Management.
  • Strong understanding of inventory and stock control.
  • Experience managing inbound/outbound logistics and transport.
  • Experience using WMS or ERP systems.
  • Strong people-management and leadership skills.
  • Excellent organisational and problem-solving abilities.
  • Commercial mindset with a focus on cost, efficiency and service.
  • Ability to work under pressure and deliver against tight deadlines.

Experience with Lean, Kanban, cycle/PI counting and continuous improvement would be advantageous.

  • Inventory accuracy and stock optimisation.
  • On-time delivery and dispatch.
  • Pick rates and order accuracy.
  • RFT and service levels.
  • Transport cost per delivery.
  • Warehouse space utilisation and productivity.
  • Labour and logistics cost control.
