Job Description for the Junior Buyer role:
- Support the procurement of construction materials, plant, and equipment to meet project requirements.
- Source, obtain, and evaluate supplier quotations to secure the best value
- Prepare and process purchase orders accurately
- Track delivery schedules and liaise with suppliers to ensure on-time deliveries
- Maintain up-to-date supplier records, pricing data, and procurement databases
- Collaborate with Project Managers and site teams to identify material requirement
- Resolve delivery issues, shortages and invoice discrepancies.
- Negotiate supplier pricing, payment terms, and supply agreements under supervision
- Produce procurement reports and maintain accurate purchasing records
- Regular site travel required to meet with Project Managers and site teams
- Be able to support with tasks outside your core responsibilities, providing flexible support where needed across the business to support the wider team
- Must have strong knowledge of the construction industry
- Ideally have an understanding of purchasing and supply chain principles
- Knowledge of various materials
- Driving licence is essential as you will be required to travel to various sites
- Excellent communication skills and be able to build relationships
- Be able to work to own initiative
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
- Numerical and analytical skills.
- Ability to multi-task
- Negotiation skills
Hours: Monday – Friday 8:00 am – 5:00 pm
Salary: DOE
