We are recruiting for a motivated Junior Buyer for our client based in Knutsford, where you will be required to work within a small team to support with the procurement of materials, plant, equipment, and subcontract services for various projects. Working alongside site teams, suppliers, and the senior procurement team, you will play a key role in ensuring materials are supplied on time for projects and within budget. Training will be provided for the Junior Buyer role, although you must already have a strong understanding of the construction industry, excellent negotiation skills and be confident communicating with people at all levels. This role will require regular travel, so a driving licence is essential.
 
Job Description for the Junior Buyer role:
  • Support the procurement of construction materials, plant, and equipment to meet project requirements.
  • Source, obtain, and evaluate supplier quotations to secure the best value
  • Prepare and process purchase orders accurately
  • Track delivery schedules and liaise with suppliers to ensure on-time deliveries
  • Maintain up-to-date supplier records, pricing data, and procurement databases
  • Collaborate with Project Managers and site teams to identify material requirement
  • Resolve delivery issues, shortages and invoice discrepancies.
  • Negotiate supplier pricing, payment terms, and supply agreements under supervision
  • Produce procurement reports and maintain accurate purchasing records
  • Regular site travel required to meet with Project Managers and site teams
  • Be able to support with tasks outside your core responsibilities, providing flexible support where needed across the business to support the wider team
 Candidate Requirements for the Junior Buyer role: 
  • Must have strong knowledge of the construction industry
  • Ideally have an understanding of purchasing and supply chain principles
  • Knowledge of various materials
  • Driving licence is essential as you will be required to travel to various sites
  • Excellent communication skills and be able to build relationships
  • Be able to work to own initiative
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
  • Numerical and analytical skills.
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Negotiation skills

Hours: Monday – Friday 8:00 am – 5:00 pm
Salary: DOE
