Junior Electrical Design Engineer – Building Services

Location: Farringdon, London
Salary: £28,000 – £35,000 (depending on experience)

The Role

As a Junior Electrical Design Engineer, you’ll be working closely with experienced engineers and project leads to design, develop, and deliver high-quality electrical building services solutions. This role offers hands-on project exposure, mentorship from senior team members, and clear progression opportunities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the design and specification of electrical building services systems (lighting, power distribution, fire alarms, security, etc.)

  • Produce technical drawings and calculations using AutoCAD, Revit, and industry-standard software (e.g. Amtech, Dialux, Relux)

  • Support senior engineers with project coordination and documentation

  • Attend client and design team meetings, gaining valuable exposure to multidisciplinary collaboration

  • Contribute to sustainable design solutions and help meet project environmental goals

  • Stay up to date with industry standards, codes of practice, and regulations

Requirements:

  • Degree or HNC/HND in Electrical Engineering or Building Services Engineering

  • 6–24 months’ experience in a building services design environment (placement or graduate role)

  • Basic understanding of BS7671 and relevant CIBSE/IES standards

  • Proficient in AutoCAD; experience with Revit, Amtech or Dialux is beneficial

  • Strong communication skills and willingness to learn from experienced mentors

  • A proactive attitude and genuine interest in sustainable design and technology
