Zest4Talent is partnering with an established multidisciplinary building services and sustainability consultancy to recruit a Junior Embodied Carbon Consultant.

The successful candidate can be based in Glasgow, Edinburgh or Leeds.

This is an excellent opportunity for an early-career sustainability professional looking to develop specialist expertise in Whole Life Carbon Assessment (WLCA), Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) and embodied-carbon reduction.

Working alongside an experienced sustainability team, you will support a varied portfolio of building projects and help clients make informed, lower-carbon design decisions.

Key Responsibilities

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting the delivery of Whole Life Carbon Assessments and Life Cycle Assessments.

  • Calculating embodied carbon across different stages of the building lifecycle.

  • Gathering, reviewing and analysing material and project data.

  • Reviewing Environmental Product Declarations and other product information.

  • Using carbon-assessment software and recognised industry databases.

  • Comparing materials and design options to identify carbon-reduction opportunities.

  • Producing technical calculations, reports and presentations.

  • Supporting the preparation of circular-economy and sustainability statements.

  • Collaborating with architects, engineers, contractors and wider design teams.

  • Developing your knowledge of relevant standards, planning requirements and industry guidance.

Candidate Requirements

We would like to hear from candidates with:

  • A relevant degree in sustainability, environmental engineering, building services, architecture, construction, quantity surveying or a related discipline.

  • An academic or practical understanding of embodied carbon, WLCA or LCA.

  • Strong analytical and numerical skills.

  • Confidence working with technical information, data and spreadsheets.

  • Good written and verbal communication skills.

  • An organised and methodical approach.

  • A genuine interest in sustainable design and reducing the environmental impact of the built environment.

Experience using One Click LCA or similar carbon-assessment software would be beneficial. However, applications are also welcomed from candidates with relevant academic knowledge and the motivation to develop their practical experience.
