Zest4Talent is partnering with an established multidisciplinary building services and sustainability consultancy to recruit a Junior Embodied Carbon Consultant.
The successful candidate can be based in Glasgow, Edinburgh or Leeds.
This is an excellent opportunity for an early-career sustainability professional looking to develop specialist expertise in Whole Life Carbon Assessment (WLCA), Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) and embodied-carbon reduction.
Working alongside an experienced sustainability team, you will support a varied portfolio of building projects and help clients make informed, lower-carbon design decisions.
Key Responsibilities
Your responsibilities will include:

Supporting the delivery of Whole Life Carbon Assessments and Life Cycle Assessments.

Calculating embodied carbon across different stages of the building lifecycle.

Gathering, reviewing and analysing material and project data.
-
Reviewing Environmental Product Declarations and other product information.

Using carbon-assessment software and recognised industry databases.

Comparing materials and design options to identify carbon-reduction opportunities.

Producing technical calculations, reports and presentations.

Supporting the preparation of circular-economy and sustainability statements.

Collaborating with architects, engineers, contractors and wider design teams.

Developing your knowledge of relevant standards, planning requirements and industry guidance.
Candidate Requirements
We would like to hear from candidates with:

A relevant degree in sustainability, environmental engineering, building services, architecture, construction, quantity surveying or a related discipline.

An academic or practical understanding of embodied carbon, WLCA or LCA.

Strong analytical and numerical skills.

Confidence working with technical information, data and spreadsheets.

Good written and verbal communication skills.

An organised and methodical approach.

A genuine interest in sustainable design and reducing the environmental impact of the built environment.
Experience using One Click LCA or similar carbon-assessment software would be beneficial. However, applications are also welcomed from candidates with relevant academic knowledge and the motivation to develop their practical experience.
